Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of Bare Bones Biology, including the website at barebonesbiology.co.uk, account features, revision materials, progress tools, paid access products, and any related services made available by Bare Bones Biology. By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the service.

1. Information about us

Bare Bones Biology provides online GCSE Biology revision resources and related educational services. Questions about these terms should be sent to hello@barebonesbiology.co.uk.

2. The service

The service provides revision notes, question practice, progress tracking, mastery sessions, required practical support, and, where purchased, additional guided revision features or live support. Bare Bones Biology is intended to support independent revision. It is not a substitute for school teaching, official examination board materials, professional advice, or a student's own responsibility to prepare for examinations.

3. Eligibility and accounts

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account or purchasing access.
• You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity that takes place through your account.
• You must not share paid account access with any other person unless Bare Bones Biology expressly permits this in writing.
• If you are under 13, you must not create an account or use paid features unless your parent or guardian has consented.
• Students may optionally provide a parent or guardian email address. The handling of account and parent or guardian information is explained in the Privacy Policy.

4. Payments and access

Certain parts of the service are available free of charge. Paid access is sold as a one-off payment unless the relevant checkout or product page clearly states otherwise. Current paid products include Solo. The features, price, access period, and any cohort limits shown on the relevant product page at the time of purchase form part of these terms.

Payments are processed by Stripe or another payment provider appointed by Bare Bones Biology. Bare Bones Biology does not store full payment card details. Access to paid features may be granted automatically after successful payment, but may be delayed where payment verification, account checks, or technical processing is required.

Unless a product page states otherwise, paid products are supplied as digital content and account access. By purchasing and using paid access, you acknowledge that the service may begin immediately after purchase.

5. Refunds and cancellations

Where a product page offers a 14-day refund or money-back guarantee, refund requests must be made by email to hello@barebonesbiology.co.uk within 14 days of purchase. Refunds will be made to the original payment method where possible. This does not affect any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6. Educational content and examination information

Bare Bones Biology takes reasonable care to produce educational content matched to AQA GCSE Biology and relevant revision needs. However, examination specifications, assessment requirements, mark scheme emphasis, dates, and official guidance may change. Users should check official examination board, school, and teacher guidance in addition to using the service.

Bare Bones Biology does not guarantee any particular examination result, grade, academic outcome, school decision, or improvement in performance. Any progress indicators, mastery scores, suggested revision queues, or feedback are educational tools and should not be treated as guarantees.

7. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in the service, including revision notes, questions, explanations, layouts, graphics, logos, branding, software, and other content, are owned by Bare Bones Biology or its licensors. Subject to these terms, Bare Bones Biology grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for your own revision or personal educational use.

You must not copy, reproduce, scrape, download in bulk, publish, sell, licence, distribute, upload to another service, create a competing product from, or otherwise exploit any part of the service without prior written permission from Bare Bones Biology.

8. Acceptable use

• You must not use the service unlawfully, fraudulently, or in a way that infringes the rights of Bare Bones Biology or any other person.
• You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems, data, servers, or paid features.
• You must not interfere with, overload, reverse engineer, bypass, scrape, crawl, or disrupt the service or any security measure.
• You must not use the service to create, train, populate, or improve another revision product or educational platform without written permission.
• You must not submit malicious code, abusive content, false payment information, or any material that may damage the service or another person's use of it.

9. Suspension and termination

Bare Bones Biology may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the service where it reasonably believes that you have breached these terms, misused the service, created a security or payment risk, infringed intellectual property rights, or otherwise acted in a way that may cause harm to Bare Bones Biology or other users.

10. Availability and changes to the service

Bare Bones Biology aims to make the service available reliably, but does not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or permanent availability. Access may be interrupted by maintenance, updates, hosting issues, bugs, security incidents, third-party service failures, or events outside Bare Bones Biology's reasonable control.

Bare Bones Biology may update, replace, remove, or change parts of the service from time to time, including content, features, pricing, product names, and access arrangements. Where a change materially affects paid access already purchased, Bare Bones Biology will take reasonable steps to avoid unfairly reducing the value of that access.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Subject to the paragraph above, Bare Bones Biology is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of data, examination results, academic outcomes, or losses arising from reliance on revision materials where official school or examination board information should also have been checked.

12. Privacy

Bare Bones Biology handles personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what personal data is collected, why it is used, who it may be shared with, and the rights available to users.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also have rights under the laws of the country in which you live. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.

14. Changes to these terms

Bare Bones Biology may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page. Continued use of the service after an updated version is posted means that you accept the updated terms.
